Description
LyX searches for 'sensible-editor' as default editor for text files. Since this can actually be a text mode editor, LyX becomes unusable if the user trues to edit a text file (see bug #7404). Therefore, LyX should ensure that it only chooses GUI editors and not editors with a terminal based UI.

i see this is debian specific. Sven is it possible to ask for X-only variant of sensible-editor?

I don't think so. There is rather old bug about this issue http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=243461
Looking at the sensible-editor script it's not very flexible nor creative in finding an approriate editor. (I somehow feel guilty to have pushed this mess upstream. Lesson learned.)
so should we kill sensible-editor?
